King smiled at Chris as the lovely sub let him in, and offered over his box of petit fours. He’d found a new Parisienne bakery where the pastries were out of this world. He’d picked up four dozen for tonight’s party.

“Hi, Chris. These are precious cargo, so make sure you don’t tilt the box.”

“Yes, Sir. Oh, you spoil us!”

“I just want to make sure I’m not the only one who has to work out extra tomorrow.” He gave Chris a wink and followed him into the kitchen. “What can I bring down with me?”

“I think we’re good right now, thanks.” Chris grinned at him. “Are you ever going to play again, Master King?”

“I am. I’m just waiting for the right partner.” He was waiting for Dusty to be officially his. When that happened, they’d put on a show or two. Blow a few minds.

“There are a couple of guys down there. Hopefully you’ll find who you’re looking for.”

“Only a couple? Slow night tonight?” He wasn’t late by any means, but he wasn’t anything near early, either. He’d come when he’d expected there’d already be a full house. He was hoping Dustin was already set up, ready to go. God, he couldn’t wait to see the man. The last month had felt like forever.

He’d thought about calling, but he hadn’t. Neither had Dusty. Stubborn man. Hell, men. They both should have picked up the phone the day after Dusty had left, but neither of them had.

“Maybe more than a couple.” Chris winked at him.

He winked right back before heading down the stairs, anticipation riding him hard. Taking a breath, he straightened his shoulders and went down the last step, entering the ‘dungeon.’

The basement was dark tonight, people coupling up, the sounds of need already on the air. The stage was bare, surprising him. Dusty always put on a show, a lineup of subs just waiting to be the one Dusty chose. As he looked around, though, he couldn’t see Dusty anywhere.

Okay, that was odd. He never beat Dusty here. He came across Daniel, filling the fridge with extra waters, as well as apples and grapes. The man gave him a smile. “Hey, King. How’s it going?”

“I can’t complain.” Except he could—Dusty wasn’t here and he wanted to pout and whine.

“Good deal. You need anything?”

“I’ll have one of those waters, please.” He caught the bottle as Daniel tossed it.

One of the little subs came over and bowed. “Are you looking for company, Master?”

“I’ll just be observing tonight.”

“Yes, Sir.” The disappointment on the young man’s face was palpable.

He hated to see that disappointment, but his heart was elsewhere. “Good luck in your search, boy.”

“Thank you, Sir.” What a pretty smile.

Where the hell was Dusty? He took a sip of his water and wandered a little. Glanced at his watch. Dusty definitely should have been here by now.

“You okay, man?” Jack smiled at him, but the big Top’s eyes were worried.

“Jack! Hey. Nice to see you.” He shook hands with the man. “I’m just a little disappointed.
